Lyon, the capital of the senses and taste, provides a prestigious setting for the selection of the world’s best wines, beers, and spirits. The popularity of the event has never waned, with 10,588 samples all categories included from 51 countries tasted in 2022.

The 14th edition will take place on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Cité Internationale in Lyon!
This international competition welcomes jurors from across the world to Lyon to taste and mark wines, beers and spirits of all types. The best in each category are awarded a Gold or Silver Medal. At the end of the competition, the product with the highest score from each country, and from each region of France, receives a special prize.

An increasingly successful competition.
For many years now, the Concours International de Lyon has seen a steady increase in the number of samples presented. The Competition will now be a two-day affair.
Since 2020, the Competition has become even more delicious with the inclusion of cheese and dairy products. The Cheese and Dairy Products selection was already highly successful on November 25th, 2022. 1,294 samples were tasted; 390 Gold and Silver medals, and 13 trophies, were
awarded.

A President who does honour to Lyon’s gastronomy.
Each year, a famous chef or sommelier is selected as the honorary president of the Competition, to spread its renown and attract the attention of the press and professionals.
For the 2023 edition of the Competition, the presidency has been entrusted to Hervé Baligand, Sommelier of the Year 2018. After gaining experience in Monaco and London, then in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in Sofitel Lyon Bellecour and later in the prestigious Restaurant Paul Bocuse, he became in 2018 Head Sommelier of La Pyramide in the city of Vienne, France, a restaurant with two Michelin Stars. That same year, he won the 'Sommelier of the year' title at Lyon's gastronomy and wines competition.

Under control tasting.
The quality manager will make sure all samples are tasted in compliance with very strict Concours de Lyon regulations and ISO9001 certification. The assurance of rigorous selection and organisation is a guarantee of quality and instils trust in consumers and wines, beers and spirits professionals.
