Introducing the Honorary President of this 11th edition: Michelin-starred chef Yohann Chapuis!

The Honorary President of the Lyon International Competition’s 2020 edition is Yohann Chapuis, chef of the Michelin-starred Greuze restaurant in Tournus.
When he was just 26, Yohann accepted the head chef position at Lameloise restaurant, and with it the mission of regaining the establishment’s recently-lost third star. The support of a highly motivated team allowed Yohann to give Jacques Lameloise back his Holy Grail just four years later.
That was the moment when Yohann and his wife Stéphanie decided to open their own establishment and set their sights on the Greuze restaurant in Tournus, a legend since 1947 when it was run by the illustrious chef Jean Ducloux.
“It was a childhood dream. When I was an apprentice in Charolles, there were the four greats: Bocuse, Troisgros, Lameloise and Greuze. The restaurant was in very poor condition when we came to visit it, but we knew straight away that our new life would begin here.”
In 2008, working hand in hand, the couple made Greuze restaurant their own, and earned a Michelin star in just 10 months with a cuisine straight from the heart and very attentive service.
Yohann Chapuis also won the Taittinger prize in 2004 and was a finalist in the Meilleurs Ouvriers de France competition in 2011. He is a man who loves challenges, and Stéphanie is right there beside him in every adventure.
In 2019 a new adventure began with their decision to give the Greuze a new ‘skin’. They placed the gourmet restaurant in a warm and authentic setting fit for a jewel—they even call it Restaurant L’Ecrin—and added a relaxed ‘Bouchon Bourguignon’ to delight guests and make everyone feel at home. Jean Ducloux would have been proud: his old place has kept all its character, but worthy heirs Yohann and Stéphanie have brought it new life.
