François Robin chose an unusual career path. Though his father raised goats and produced cheese, François first studied mathematics and biology, then moved into the cultural sector, before finally changing career paths and coming back to his roots. Yet it was not as a producer that he first came back to the cheese world, but as a dairyman-cheesemonger. It was clearly a successful career change, since François won the title of Meilleur Ouvrier de France Cheesemonger in 2011!

François first gained experience at Nicolas Julhès, a gourmet grocery store in Paris where harmonies between foods are of the utmost importance. He then joined Fauchon and managed the Cheese sector, working closely with refiner Hervé Mons, composing cheese platters and proposing harmonies with products from other grocery aisles.

Since 2012, François Robin has been advising, training, presenting, and explaining harmonies in great detail. He wrote ‘Cheese for Dummies’ for the famous collection of books and has a lively Instagram account that is rich in content.
