Cheese and Dairy Products awards are online!

The first Cheese and Dairy Products edition of the Concours International de Lyon took place on November 27-30, 2020, on the Competition’s premises.

Tasters came to tasting rooms in small groups for tasting sessions spread over 3 days.

The competition, presided over by Honorary President Christian Janier, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Cheesemaker 2000, and placed under the control of Commissioner General Didier Lassagne, Meilleur Ouvrier de France Cheesemaker 2007, tasted and judged a total of 756 samples and all of them were judged in 128 categories. 108 products came from abroard i.e 9 countries were represented.
The 527 cheeses and 229 dairy products (milks, butters, creams, yogurts and milk-based desserts) were judged by professional tasters and enlightened amateurs, and 223 samples were awarded, including 142 Gold-Medals.


In the Dairy Products selection, 38 gold-medals, 33 silver-medals et 1 trophie were awarded! Indeed, a special trophy has been awarded to the best dairy product in France.  And the winner is…Fromage Frais Faisselle de la Laiterie Mons en Côte Roannaise! A faisselle made of 100% cow’s milk and certified organic!

Finally, 104 gold-medals, 58 silver-medals et 8 trophies were awarded in the cheese category! A special trophy has been awarded to the best cheese in each country.

The best cheese of competition, for all countries combined, is in the category of Ewes’ milk cheese - Other pressed ewes’ milk cheese and is from spain. And the winner is...Queso de Oveja Artesano Curado en Miel y Orégano Villarejo de Quesos Artesanos Villarejo SI!
