The Concours International de Lyon is back, this time for three days of tasting!

Published on 2021-12-30

Lyon, the capital of the senses and taste, provides a prestigious setting for the selection of the world’s best wines, beers, and spirits.
In 2021, no fewer than 10,000 samples from 43 countries were tasted in the Competition’s tasting rooms, which were specially organised and equipped to comply with Covid-related restrictions.

The 13th edition will take place on Thursday, March 24, Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26, 2022, at the Cité Internationale in Lyon!
This international competition welcomes jurors from across the world to Lyon to taste and mark wines, beers and spirits of all types. The best in each category are awarded a Gold or Silver Medal. At the end of the competition, the product with the highest score from each country, and from each region of France, receives a special prize.

An increasingly successful competition.
For many years now, the Concours International de Lyon has seen a steady increase in the number of samples presented. The Competition will now be a two-day affair.
Since 2020, the Competition has become even more delicious with the inclusion of cheese and dairy products. The Cheese and Dairy Products selection was already highly successful on December 3, 2021. More than 1,050 samples were tasted; 320 Gold and Silver medals, and 10 trophies, were awarded.

A President who does honour to Lyon’s gastronomy.
Each year, a famous chef or sommelier is selected as the honorary president of the Competition, to spread its renown and attract the attention of the press and professionals.
In 2022, the presidency of the Competition was attributed to Florence Périer. A member of Toques Blanches Lyonnaises and ambassador for Mères Lyonnaises, since 2009, Florence has perpetuated the art of local gastronomy with simplicity, love and humour at the Café du Peintre.

Special situations require special measures.
If the situation regarding COVID-19 prevents organising the tasting at the Cité Internationale in Lyon, small groups of tasters will be dispatched to the numerous tasting rooms on our premises in Limas, near Lyon. In any case, the quality manager will make sure that hygiene measures, rules and regulations of the Concours International de Lyon and ISO9001 certification procedures are carefully followed during the tasting.
